what to bring

Fishing on Lord Howe Island

You don't need to pack fancy clothes - guests wear resort wear, beach wear or active wear during the day, and smart casual clothes to dinner.

Please bring a warm jumper for cool evenings which can occur year round (even in Summer). Early Spring or late Autumn evenings and mornings can get down to 16 degrees, so please ensure you bring enough warm layers. We recommend checking the weather before you pack to ensure you pack appropriately.

We have a complimentary guest laundry with washing machines, detergent and a clothes dryer. We also have clothes lines.

You should bring a reusable water bottle, torch, raincoat, swimming costumes, hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, insect repellent, books, camera and accessories, reef walking shoes, comfortable walking shoes, day pack and personal toiletries.

If you can’t survive without your 'device', you should bring your laptop or tablet. Wifi is available at Coral Café and Anchroage Café, but not at Pinetrees (you'll thank us at the end of your stay).

If you have a prescription snorkeling mask we recommend bringing that, otherwise you can rent snorkeling equipment from many places on the island.

Pinetrees provides hair dryers, luxury bathroom amenities (soap, shampoo and conditioner), as well as bathrobes, beach towels and rain umbrellas.

Other businesses hire bikes, cars, snorkeling equipment, diving equipment, surfboards, kayaks, wind surfers and kite surfers, fishing equipment, beach umbrellas and golf clubs.

There are two general stores on the island, Joys and Thompsons, where you'll find a limited selection of most items like toiletries, snorkeling equipment, toys and other items you might like to purchase during your stay.

We have a number of strollers you can use and cots are provided in the rooms for infants. You can bring your own stroller, but a portable cot is not necessary. A number of baby ‘cabooses’ are available to hire with your bikes from Wilson’s Hire, and kid's helmets are also available (although you can bring your own if you have space). If you’d like to pre-book those (recommended for busy times of the year) please call Wilson’s Hire on 02 6563 2045 to reserve one for your stay. If you’d like more details about nappies and other baby items for sale on the island, then please call Joy’s Shop on 02 6563 2121 or Thompson’s Store on 02 6563 2155. It’s not necessary to bring baby food as our chefs will prepare baby food for infants. You can bring along extra treats or special foods. There is a fridge in your room.
