Six of the Best Yoga Retreats

Yoga with Charlotte Dodson on Lord Howe Island

The Sydney Morning Herald just listed six of the best yoga retreats, and Pinetrees was on the list. Fancy that! Others on the list were retreats in Koh Samui, Singapore, Bali, Maui and Byron Bay. We’ve come a long way since our first Wellness Week in 2012 with the NSW Tactical Response Group bootcamp instructor (that didn’t work). Instead, our yoga instructor Charlotte Dodson has found a second home at Pinetrees and visits 3-4 times every year to host our Wellness Weeks.

Our weeks are unique because we don’t take ourselves too seriously. The yoga is serious – Charlotte is amazing – but nobody cares if you have a glass of wine with dinner or a cheeky scone for afternoon tea. It’s a holiday after all. But if you want to come and eat healthy food, burn calories through yoga, swimming, kayaking, mountain climbing and riding, sleep lots, read books and disconnect from the outside world, then Pinetrees is the place for you. Another journalist described our Wellness Weeks as like “hanging out with your really together big sister. She doesn’t insist that you do anything but leads by beautiful example.” Sounds like my kind of holiday.

Pinetrees Lodge I would recommend to our friends and family. It is the perfect holiday away from the world of hustle and bustle. There is plenty to do on Lord Howe Island for the energetic and not so energetic. Nature is at its best and the scenery is beautiful.

We came here wound up like tight springs! By the time we left we were relaxed and at ease with the world. We loved the slower pace with no TV and mobile phones.

The food at Pinetrees Lodge was absolutely spectacular and of such consistent high quality. We also loved the BBQ picnics provided and of course all the lovely people working there, we felt so welcome.

Lord Howe Island is a fantastic island for walking, swimming and snorkelling in unique surroundings, where kids can safely explore by bike. Pinetrees Lodge is a good opportunity to meet other parents in a relaxed and friendly environment with great service.
