Renovations at Pinetrees

Renovations have begun!

Our renovations started yesterday. It’s amazing how quickly builders can, well, destroy stuff. Don’t get me wrong – it’s a great mess – and one we’ve been dreaming of for years. Many moons ago, our designers wanted no more than three words to describe what Pinetrees is all about, and after great strain, we suggested ‘simple’, ‘timeless’ and ‘authentic’. Thanks to Brandon Wallis and Julian Brady at Site Design (who both worked with Jamie Durie), we now have a set of plans that reflect those three words. Don’t worry – we’re not transforming into a luxury retreat! The fittings are all top quality, but we’re not going for designer cushions, pillow menus or, heaven forbid, TVs with in-room movies. As a start, each of the Transit Hill rooms and Palm rooms will have new wool carpet, louvre windows, linen curtains, paint, cabinets, bathrooms and lovely Blackbutt decks. If time permits, we’ll also put new carpet, curtains, paint and cabinets in the Garden Cottages and Under the Pines rooms.

Every generation, Pinetrees has had a facelift and the current renovations are our contribution to the place. No doubt, our kids will change a thing or two in 30 years’ time. To all of our regular guests – we have listened to your feedback – Pinetrees as you know and love it will be the same, just without the mission brown tiles and mink laminate. We reopen on 10 August.
