Qantas names the 'Pixie Rourke'

Following the death of our beloved Pixie in July 2010, Qantas has given her the ultimate honour. On 8 September 2010, a freshly painted Dash-8 landed at Lord Howe bearing the name 'Pixie Rourke' under the cockpit windows. It's only the second time Qantas has named one of its aircraft after a person - the first being the new Airbus A380, named after Nancy Bird-Walton.

Qantas representatives Ashleigh Trouncer and Andrew Rattle conducted the formal naming ceremony on the tarmac, and around 40 Pinetrees staff attended.

It was a happy occasion, and a great source of motivation to continue Pixie's genuine hospitality at Pinetrees and tireless work to promote tourism on Lord Howe Island.
