Ocean Swim Week review in the Herald Sun

07-Jun-2016

Trevor Hendy with guests on Lord Howe Island

The Herald Sun just published a feature article about our Ocean Swim Week with Ali Day, by journalist Christine Retschlag. Poor Christine – she really was nervous for the first few days, and rightly so, the swim group kept upping the ante from 1.5km swims to, finally, a 3.8km swim. That’s a long way for seasoned ocean swimmers, but for travel journalists who’d trained a bit before arrival, it was a marathon. And you know what? At the end of the week, Christine was one of the happiest guests I’ve seen at Pinetrees. She’d accomplished way more than a daily swim, and had overcome fears of rough water, sharks, isolation and being the slowest (she wasn’t). What kind of holiday was that? In her words ‘a bloody good one’.

Cycling around Lord Howe Island in relative safety, sunning on Ned’s Beach and the fishing were amazing. Pinetrees Lodge is a stress free, relaxing stay and the food and service was beyond expectation.

Pinetrees Lodge was a great choice for our family of four. The accommodation was great; the food was fantastic, with a great selection to choose from suiting all family members. Every staff member was always happy to help you. We loved that after climbing to Goat House Cave, there was an esky full of meat, fish, salad and cheese waiting for us at Cobby’s Corner for a BBQ! We would all love to come back!

We chose Lord Howe Island as our special holiday to celebrate the end of cancer treatment. After many months of battling through life, Pinetrees offered exactly what we needed – a hassle free week with everything catered for and no decisions required except to choose which wonderful menu item to try and which walks to attempt each day. Pinetrees were as good as their word, and we were well looked after by the wonderful people from the time we were collected from airport to the time we reluctantly farewelled Pinetrees Lodge and Lord Howe Island.

Great food and service – amazing attention to detail! Pinetrees Lodge has incredible location and superb staff. They are very family friendly and ultimate island retreat. We loved that there was no TV, mobile and internet. We loved the BBQ’s – fabulous idea! A great first family holiday for us – we will be back!

From the moment we were greeted at the airport until we left we felt we were welcome and our every need catered for. Everyone was so pleasant and helpful. Pinetrees was the right choice for our holiday. It was so good to everything done for us and not to have to worry about food shopping and preparation.

We would recommend a visit to Lord Howe Island because of the untouched natural environment and beauty. Pinetrees Lodge are comfortable and friendly and a great central location. The all inclusive meals were of the greatest quality.
