Great Walks Magazine Lord Howe Island

Great Walks Magazine is Australia's premier bushwalking magazine. We’re keen subscribers and many of our guests read the magazine with great enthusiasm – particularly when the articles are about Lord Howe. The latest edition of Great Walks has a feature article about our Walking and Photography Week in November 2015, by the Editor, Brent McKean.

Brent’s article is great summary of our Walking and Photography Weeks. We cover the island from pristine beaches, exposed coral platforms and lowland kentia forests to the cliffs of Mt Lidgbird and beyond. Each day we focus on a photographic theme to help our guests develop their skills step-by-step, and we include brief technical workshops with our ‘photographer-in-residence’. As good as our photographic advice is, guests learn just as much from each other, particularly when they see each other’s photos from the day.

Each day we have a competition to help guests focus on the theme of the day, and the winner (not that it’s all that serious) gets a bottle of wine on condition that they share it around. Brent’s article shows the winning photos for each of the themes, and you’ll be impressed. Thanks Brent!

An amazing feeling of being at home on this wonderful island.

If you’re after a holiday away from electronics then Lord Howe and Pinetrees is a lovely way to experience ‘island life’. The island is very interesting and full of rare plants, bird life and wonderful locals.

Before the plane even landed we were excited at arriving at such a unique place. Everything around us was like nothing we had ever seen or experienced before. The island and the accommodation was second to none, making it the perfect destination to spend our honeymoon. Thank you for making the start of our life together so wonderful!
Nathan & Candice, Tennyson SA

Utterly unique – in all of our travels we’ve never experienced any spot so totally embracing, relaxing, cheerful and safe.
Linda & Richard, Massachusetts USA

A great place to unwind and enjoy beautiful food, sunsets at the boatshed and amazing staff. Thanks so much for a great stay – we’ll be back for sure!
Shane & Natalie, Green Point NSW

You can really focus on your holiday activities without being distracted by daily chores like shopping, cooking, cleaning etc. Pinetrees is centrally located meaning no need for a car – riding bikes everywhere really takes you back to your childhood.
Zoltan, Bexley NSW

This holiday has been more than we expected. Whether you want a health kick, physical challenges or just to relax with a book and a great glass of wine, Pinetrees is the place to be. Dani and her staff are world class and cannot be faulted. We will be back!
Pam & Sue, Malabar NSW

I would recommend Pinetrees for its location, excellent food and friendly staff. The natural beauty of Lord Howe will also have us returning sometime soon!
Robyn, Petersham NSW

Pinetrees provided an outstanding experience. Their fabulous happy friendly staff always there to help! We really enjoyed the ‘Wellness Week’ and felt it was great for beginners like us who had never done any yoga!

We just can’t find a fault to write about! Pinetrees is perfection!
