Best Destinations for a 4 Day Break

02-May-2016

Cover of SMH Traveller featuring Lord Howe Island

The Sydney Morning Herald just announced the best 14 destinations for a 4 day short break, and Pinetrees Lodge was one of them. But we disagree – 4 days is too short. In our experience, the guests who stay for 4 days leave frustrated, and that’s not the point of a short break. There’s so much more to do on Lord Howe, and it takes 4 days just to get into the swing of the place. Our regular guests all stay for 7-10 days, and they’ve been to Lord Howe Island multiple times.

Please don’t take this the wrong way. If you only have 4 days, then come and stay. You can still do a few snorkel trips on the lagoon, the Kims to Malabar walk, a scuba dive at the Admiralty Islands and perhaps have a traditional wood-fired BBQ at Neds Beach. But if you can squeeze a few extra days from work, then you can have a real adventure holiday. You could climb Mt Gower, join a fishing trip to Balls Pyramid, and walk to Little Island and see thousands of Providence petrels flying around your head at sunset. Thanks for the inclusion in the ‘short break list’, but do yourself a favour and stay for 7 days.

Pinetrees Lodge was outstanding! Personal service that makes every guest feel special combined with 5- star meals and 5-star friendliness!!! We will be back as soon as we can. Lord Howe Island is Australia’s piece of paradise. The snorkelling and scenery must be the best in the world and credit must be given to all residents for keeping it this way.

The tranquillity, friendliness of staff and guests, the 5-star food also the many activities that are available makes Pinetrees Lodge and Lord Howe Island for a peaceful and restful place to recharge your batteries or have a strenuous time doing all the available activities.
Barbara, Burradoo NSW

I’ve been coming to Lord Howe Island since 1989 and Pinetrees Lodge since 1995. After 10 visits the island remains a place of great beauty where the relationship between nature and people is peaceful and respectful, and where one can rest and be recharged with ease. The stay at Pinetrees Lodge is part of that – comfortable, calm, good food, centrally located to all the delights of this beautiful place with friendly staff. Pinetrees has been upgraded but has retained its original simplicity and charm. Once you come here you won’t want to return.
