dive weeks

Lord Howe Island has some of the best diving in the world. The coral reef system has a unique mix of tropical, subtropical and temperate marine life, and there are over 90 coral and 500 fish species. The duel protection from Lord Howe’s World Heritage listing and Marine Park ensures that the reef system is perfectly pristine – there’s no overfishing, pollution, sedimentation or coral bleaching. Lord Howe is one of the few dive locations in the world where humans have had no impact.

In calm seas, there are more than 80 dive sites around the island, including one of the most famous dive sites in the world, Balls Pyramid. In rough seas, the Lord Howe lagoon is safe and easily accessible. Dive sites such as Erscotts Hole and Comets Hole reward divers with stunning coral gardens and abundant fish life.

Our Dive Weeks combine the great food and service at Pinetrees with Lord Howe’s best dive operator, Pro Dive. With their new 12 seat dive boat, MV Pinnacle, and Nitrox generator, Pro Dive can quickly access the best dive sites in all conditions and keep you deeper for longer. After a memorable day in the water, you’ll return to Pinetrees for a hot shower, cold sunset beer, exceptional 4 course dinner, great wine and comfortable bed. You’ll also find time to visit the day spa, surf the reef, paddle a kayak or SUP, ride a bike through ancient rainforest, play golf or climb a mountain. Unlike liveaboard dive trips, you’ll use your downtime on Lord Howe to discover our other world-class activities (but nothing is compulsory – it’s perfectly fine to relax on the beach). For a better feel for what to expect, watch 'A Little Taste of Lord Howe Island' by film maker Andy Lloyd, or read the feature articles by Tourism Australia and the New Zealand Herald.
