Activities

The appearance of the island and its unspoilt environment draws visitors of all ages back time and time again. Pinetrees is centrally located so it makes an ideal base.

The lagoon beach is just across the road for your early morning swim in clean, clear water.

Our Boatshed is right on the lagoon in front of Pinetrees and is a great place for a cool drink as the sun sets.

You are only a short bike ride from the golf course or the champagne surf at Blinky, or a lazy day at Lovers Bay.

In the other direction there are cafes, museum, bowling green, shops, post office, and churches. Stretch out on Old Settlement Beach or check out Neds Beach where you can hand-feed the fish.

Walk through the Kentia palms on the island’s many marked tracks from gentle strolls to rewarding hikes to the tops of hills with breathtaking views.

Climb to the top of Mt Gower (875 m) with island guides. See Woodhens or winter-nesting Providence Petrels on the forest track to Little Island.

Fish from the shore or on a deep-sea fishing boat. Cruise around the island and visit smaller off-shore islands crammed with nesting birds.

Scuba-dive in Lord Howe’s magical underwater environment or take a glass bottom boat trip to see more of the reef. Simply lose yourself exploring the bays and beaches.

No matter how you choose to spend your day, Pinetrees will pack your lunch - cold picnic style or Australian barbeque - so you can spend all day relaxing at your favourite spot, birdwatching, fishing, snorkelling or just lazing in the sun.

Lord Howe is very relaxed and informal.

The planes have a 14 kilo weight limit, so just bring your holiday clothes plus footwear for walking, light all-weather jacket, sweater, torch. Pinetrees provides beach towels and tennis racquets, snorkelling equipment and golf clubs can be hired.

Pinetrees is the perfect holiday destination. Be as active as you like or just relax by yourself and then meet up again with friends for dinner.
