Walking and Photography Week: 16-23 July

27-Apr-2011

Lord Howe Island is the best walking destination in Australia, and one of the best in the world. Its World Heritage listing is for scenic beauty, biodiversity and rare flora and fauna, and there's a large variety of terrain in a small area. You can explore the intertidal zone at low tide and discover amazing life forms, you can walk along user-friendly graded tracks to swimming coves and lookouts, you can climb small hills and capture vistas that feature in National Geographic and David Attenborough documentaries, and you can climb big mountains. Everywhere you look on Lord Howe there are amazing colours and textures. The light can be bright to showcase the range of blues in the water, it can be soft to provide subtle tonal contrast in the landscape, and it can be saturated. Best of all, you get to see the sunrise and sunset over water every day.

Our Walking and Photography Week from Saturday 16 July to Saturday 23 July will combine the skills of local guides and photographers to help you discover and capture the Island's stunning landscapes and life forms. Some walks will be self-guided, while others will have expert guides to explain the plants, geology, birds and marine life. Each guide is a recognised local photographer and can help you capture better images.

The Walking and Photography Week includes:

  • guided walks to Mt Gower, Mt Eliza, Goat House, Boat Harbour and Kim's Lookout with expert interpretation of Lord Howe's ecosystems and expert advice on photographic techniques
  • guided walks to rarely visited parts of the island (depending on your level of fitness and the weather conditions)
  • 10-20% discounts on snorkelling, diving, fishing, kayaking, boat tours and bus tours on rest days (see our Adventure Package for details and availability)
  • full buffet breakfasts
  • lunches (either at Pinetrees, gourmet BBQ hamper or packed lunch)
  • afternoon teas
  • 3 or 4 course dinners
  • use of all lodge facilities
  • island airport transfers

Prices and conditions are the same as our standard 5 night package. Numbers are limited so please book early to avoid disappointment. Please contact us for further details or to make a booking.
